Flowerdream by JLL Pearl

Flowerdream is the freshwater pearl hematite topaz necklace I designed around a single pendant. Gold-faceted hematite beads form the strand, small and precise. At the centre, a blue topaz sits above an arc of sapphires. Furthermore, a 12mm round white freshwater pearl hangs below — the piece that gives the whole composition its weight.

The pendant

The pendant brings together three distinct blues. Moreover, each is different — the aqua clarity of the topaz, the deeper intensity of the sapphires, and the soft iridescence of the pearl. Because each stone carries its own quality of light, they work together without competing. As a result, the eye moves from one to the other, without settling on any single point.

The closure

The necklace closes with an adjustable lasso cord. Furthermore, two round pearls finish the cord ends as stoppers — a detail that remains visible even at the back of the neck. Therefore, the length adjusts freely, worn close to the collarbone or lower. In this way, Flowerdream works as well with a simple shirt as with bare skin.

I built this freshwater pearl hematite topaz necklace stone by stone. Still, the pendant took the longest — finding the right proportion between topaz, sapphires, and pearl. Because the hematite beads are small and faceted, they frame without competing. Moreover, it is that restraint in the strand that lets the pendant speak. In this way, it reflects how I work: by hand, in Greece.
