Killini by JLL Pearl

Killini is a grey macramé bracelet with a baroque pearl and a blue sapphire toupie. The pearl came first — drop-shaped, 12mm, cream-white. It already felt cool, almost mineral. So the cord followed that direction, and gold was never the right answer.

The Sapphire Toupie

The toupie sits against one side of the pearl — a small, top-shaped blue sapphire element set in dark metal. Its shape tapers slightly, giving it its name. Instead of a rondelle, this edge catches light at a different angle. The blue sapphires read dark in most light. But they hold a depth that a flat stone would lose.

The Grey Macramé Cord

The grey macramé cord runs on both sides of the pearl. In fact, grey was the only cord that worked — gold would have pulled attention from both the pearl and the toupie. But grey holds back. So the sapphire and the pearl become the two things worth looking at. Two small freshwater pearls close the cord ends; the bracelet adjusts by sliding the knot.

Killini arrives in its JLL Pearl pouch with a certificate of authenticity. Since I work with baroque pearls, each piece varies in shape and surface — so the bracelet you receive is the one in the photo.
