Paros by JLL Pearl

Everything in Paros starts with the stone ball at the centre. A sphere of multicoloured semiprecious stones, set with champagne diamonds. It was the starting point, and everything else followed from there. So I built this Tahitian pearl macramé bracelet around it. Not freshwater pearls. Not grey ones. Tahitian, because only dark could hold its own beside all that colour.

Dark Pearls, Coloured Centre

Tahitian pearls are naturally dark — they grow in a different oyster, in different water. That darkness is the point. Still, placed beside a ball of multicoloured stones, these Tahitian pearls in this macramé bracelet don't compete. Instead, they frame it. The contrast is what gives Paros its character — quiet outside, then suddenly not.

A Cord That Steps Back

I chose the light grey satin cord precisely because it doesn't distract. It also sits between the dark pearls and the skin, giving the piece air. The grey reflects where the pearls absorb — and that difference is visible on the wrist. A sliding knot adjusts this Tahitian pearl macramé bracelet to any wrist size without a clasp. Two small pearls finish the cord ends.

Paros arrives in its JLL Pearl pouch with a certificate of authenticity. Because I work with natural pearls, each piece varies slightly in colour and depth. That is part of what makes it yours — no other bracelet will have exactly these pearls.

• Three round Tahitian pearls, 8mm, AA+ quality
