Amanda by JLL Pearl

Amanda is the baroque pearl necklace I make when a pearl finds me first — before I know what it will become.

There is one in the world shaped exactly like the one at the center of this piece. I found it, set it aside, and waited until I knew how it wanted to be worn. Its lustre shifts between white and pale gold. Its surface is not flawless — and that, in fact, is what makes it worth wearing.

The contrast that makes it work

The chain is 925 sterling silver; I oxidize it by hand to a deep graphite finish. Its texture is raw, its weight deliberate. However, the piece never feels heavy — it sits close to the collarbone, balanced. In this way, the dark patina of the metal brings out the warmth of the baroque pearl necklace, the way shadow defines light.

I work alone on each Amanda, from selecting the pearl to securing the final clasp. The closure is a toggle or lobster clasp, depending on the pearl.

One piece. One person.

Because I work with baroque pearls, no two necklaces are ever identical. Therefore, the piece you receive is, by nature, singular. Once it leaves the studio, that particular combination of pearl and patina is gone. The pearl ensures that.

Still, Amanda is part of JLL Pearl's permanent collection. Each piece also arrives in a JLL Pearl pouch, with a certificate of authenticity.
