Kea is a baroque pearl gold macramé bracelet built around one question. What could stand beside a baroque pearl without taking over? This pearl is 12mm, cream-white, with the slightly uneven form that a true baroque pearl has. Round pearls look quite different — so this one called for something darker.

Dark Beside Light

The white topaz pavé rondelle sits against one side of the pearl. There, where the macramé meets the nacre, the setting is dark metal. And that choice is what made it work — a gold rondelle would have blended in. Instead, this one stands as its own detail. Also, the small cut white topaz stones catch the light in clear contrast to the soft pearl surface beside them.

The Gold Macramé Base

The gold macramé cord runs on both sides of the pearl. In fact, it is the same cord I use in this line. The warmth of the gold sits well against the grey satin sliding cord. But that tension between warm and cool is quiet. Still, it holds the piece together. Two small freshwater pearls close the cord ends; the bracelet adjusts by sliding the knot.
