Mila by JLL Pearl

Mila is the baroque pearl white topaz gold necklace I designed around a single large stone: a freshwater baroque pearl, irregular and iridescent, that needed no additional element to exist. At its surface, three small gold stars set with white topaz trace a quiet constellation. Around the pearl, a fine gold thread cord forms a lasso — adjustable, light, almost invisible.

The pearl

The baroque pearl I choose for Mila is a freshwater pearl — large, irregular, and never perfectly round. In fact, it is precisely this irregularity that gives it its character. Therefore, no two Milas carry the same pearl. The surface shifts with light: white at rest, then suddenly pink, gold, pale green. Three small gold stars, each set with a white topaz, sit on its face like a personal signature.

The cord

The cord I choose for Mila is a fine gold thread — soft, light, barely present. As a result, the baroque pearl becomes the only subject of the piece. In addition, the cord forms a lasso: a sliding knot adjusts the length for every neckline. Furthermore, the cord ends with a small adjuster bead — a round pearl with a white topaz set in gold.

I make each Mila by hand in my atelier in Greece, choosing the pearl first — by instinct, by the way it catches light. Therefore, each piece begins with a specific stone. Indeed, this baroque pearl white topaz gold necklace is a study in one material. Each Mila leaves in its JLL Pearl pouch with a certificate of authenticity. Since I work with natural pearls, no two pieces are alike.
